Hey there! Have you ever tried getting lash extensions?
If so, you know how absolutely fabulous they can make you loo and feel.
Personally, I love getting lash extensions.
They last for around 3-4 weeks, which is perfect for me because I don’t have to worry about applying mascara or false lashes every single day.
I love how it feels to wake up and be ready for the day! I just add a pinch of blush and my favorite lip gloss and I’m ready!!
However, as much as I love them, I know that they need to come off eventually.
And we asked professional lashes technicians what they recommend, and they said:
“As a lash technician, I highly recommend getting a retouch 1-2 weeks after your initial lash extension application.
This is the best way to ensure that any gaps in your lash line are covered
and that your lashes look their absolute best.
Additionally, while removing your lash extensions at home is possible, I strongly advise against it.
Removing lash extensions requires a specific technique and it’s important
to have a professional technician do it to avoid any damage to your natural lashes.
So, if you’re looking to remove your lash extensions,
be sure to book an appointment at your local beauty salon and let the experts take care of it for you”

So well, we know that professionals recommend against removing lash extensions at home. But, let’s face it.
It’s unrealistic to expect that every single person that have lashes extensions will be able to come to the retouch at the time that they recommend.
And that’s what happened to me.
Our lash professional also said:
“As a lash technician, I don’t recommend removing lash extensions at home to avoid damaging your natural lashes. However, in emergencies, you can use coconut oil, steam,
or a lash extension remover with caution. Seek professional help whenever possible”

It’s not always recommended, but I felt confident that I could do it safely.
Here’s a complete step-by-step guide for each method!
Method #1: Using Coconut oil to remove false eyelashes at home
Step 1: Prepare Yourself
Before you start removing your lash extensions, make sure you’re prepared.
You’ll need a few things: a bowl of warm water, a clean towel, a spoolie brush, a mirror, and some coconut oil.
Step 2: Soften the Lashes Glue
Dip your towel in warm water and place it over your eyes for a few minutes. This will help to soften the glue and make it easier to remove.
Once you’ve done this, use your spoolie brush to gently brush your lashes.
Step 3: Apply Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is an excellent natural product that can help to dissolve the glue.
Apply a small amount to a cotton swab and gently rub it over your lashes.
Be careful not to get any in your eyes!
WARNING: Coconut oil and basically ANY oil is not intended to be around the eyes, and trust me it really bothers to have some inside the eye by accident.
So I’d be EXTREMELY careful only to apply the oil to my lash extensions.
How long to leave the coconut oil to remove false eyelashes?
When using coconut oil to remove lash extensions, it’s important to leave it on for a few minutes to allow it to dissolve the glue that is holding the extensions in place.
The exact amount of time can vary depending on the strength of the glue and how many extensions you have,
but typically, leaving the coconut oil on for 5-10 minutes should be sufficient.
After applying the coconut oil, you can gently massage your lashes to help loosen the glue.
NOTE: If you feel any resistance or discomfort, don’t force the extensions off.
Instead, apply more coconut oil and wait a few more minutes before trying again.
It’s also important to be patient during the process and not rush it.
Taking the time to remove your lash extensions properly will help prevent damage to your natural lashes.
Does coconut oil dissolve eyelash glue?
Yes, coconut oil can be effective in dissolving eyelash glue.
Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which has natural properties that can break down adhesives.
When you apply coconut oil to your lash line, it can help to weaken the bond between the eyelash extensions
and the natural lashes, making it easier to remove the extensions without damaging your natural lashes.
It’s important to note that while coconut oil can be effective in removing lash extensions, it may not work for everyone.
The strength of the eyelash glue and the type of lash extensions you have can impact how effective the coconut oil is in dissolving the glue.
Additionally, some people may have sensitivities or allergies to coconut oil, so it’s important to test it on a small area before using it to remove your lash extensions.
If you’re unsure about using coconut oil to remove your lash extensions or
if you’re experiencing any discomfort or resistance during the removal process,
it’s best to consult with a professional lash technician.
They can help guide you through the process and ensure that your natural lashes stay healthy and intact.
Step 4: Gently Remove the Extensions
Using your fingers or tweezers, gently remove the lash extensions one by one. If you feel any resistance, stop and apply more coconut oil.
PLEASE NOTE: Don’t force them off, or you could damage your natural lashes.
Step 5: Rinse and Moisturize
Once all of the extensions are off, rinse your eyes with warm water and pat them dry.
Apply a gentle eye cream or serum to help nourish and hydrate your skin around your natural lashes.
After removing my lash extensions, I was amazed at how different I looked without them!
While I loved having them, it’s nice to give my natural lashes a break and let them breathe for a bit.

Method #2 Using Steam to remove lash extensions at home
If you’re looking for a gentle and effective way to remove your eyelash extensions at home, using steam is a great option.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to remove eyelash extensions at home using steam:
Step 1. Start by boiling a pot of water and pouring it into a large bowl.
Step 2. Allow the water to cool slightly to a temperature that is comfortable for you to lean over and not too hot for your skin.
Step 3. Cover your head with a towel and lean over the bowl of hot water, making sure your face is not too close to the water to avoid burning yourself.
Step 4. Allow the steam to reach your face and lashes for about 10-15 minutes.
This will help to loosen the glue holding the lash extensions in place.
Step 5. After steaming, gently rub a cotton pad soaked in oil-free makeup remover over your lashes, avoiding contact with your eyes.
Repeat step 5 as needed until all the extensions have been removed.
After removing the extensions, wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any remaining glue or makeup remover from your lashes.
It’s important to be patient and gentle during the removal process to avoid damaging your natural lashes.
Apply a lash serum or conditioner to promote the growth and health of your natural lashes.

It’s like saying goodbye to your besties! But don’t worry, I’ve got a hot tip for you.

If you experience any discomfort or resistance, stop the process and consult a professional lash technician for further guidance.
Does steaming help remove eyelash extensions?
Yes, steaming can be helpful in removing eyelash extensions.
Steam helps to soften the adhesive used to attach the extensions to your natural lashes, making them easier to remove.
The heat from the steam can also help to open up your pores and increase blood flow, which can promote the growth and health of your natural lashes.
However, it’s important to note that steaming alone may not be enough to completely remove all of your lash extensions.
You may need to combine steaming with other removal methods,
such as using an oil-based makeup remover or coconut oil, to fully remove the extensions without damaging your natural lashes.
It’s also important to be patient and gentle during the removal process.
Avoid pulling or tugging on your lashes, as this can cause damage to your natural lashes.
If you experience any discomfort or resistance, stop the process and seek the help of a professional lash technician.
They can guide you through the process and ensure that your natural lashes stay healthy and intact.
What removes lash extensions instantly?
One effective way to remove lash extensions quickly and safely is by using a specially-formulated lash extension remover, which can be found on Amazon and other online retailers.

It’s important to note that while using a lash extension remover can be an effective way to remove lash extensions quickly,
it’s still important to be gentle and patient during the process to avoid damaging your natural lashes.

My personal experience with lash extensions
As a makeup artist and makeup lover myself, I know the importance of wearing false eyelashes to complement and enhance the eye makeup.
I stand that every makeup look can get an instant boost by only wearing false lashes. (Individual lash extensions or the regular strip lashes)
The first time I wore lash extensions, I was shocked at how natural, and beautiful my lashes looked after my session.
The next day I woke up with an almost-ready-to-go face!!
I can easily go without any makeup at all, just the lashes extensions
But I decided to go with a lip and cheek tint to complement my look. No foundation or any other base makeup at all.
I loved them!
The time passed, and after 7-10 days I was slowly losing some individual lashes from the extensions, not my natural lashes.
And I started to see a gap between some of my lashes which nobody wants.
At that point, the most recommended thing to do is to book an appointment for a lash retouch to fill those gaps.
I didn’t do that.
I waited until all my lashes fell off, and then I went to get another full new set.
In the meantime, between set applications, I got a little desperate because some days, the gaps looked so notorious that I didn’t know what to do to make it look better.
Now that I contacted my professional technician again for more info about removing my lashes at home safely, I’m confident to try these methods!!
