What Kind Of Makeup Goes With Burgundy Dress

Before I go into the specifics of my favorite makeup looks for your burgundy dress, I wanted to highlight a few important makeup tips and what kind of makeup goes best with your burgundy look.

Lighter is Better for Blush

When it comes to blush, you do not want to go dark for your burgundy look.

If you pick something too dark, it could clash with your dress.

Opt for a soft pink blush to detract attention away from your cheeks and onto the other parts of your face that you want to highlight.

Use Highlighter

If you are wearing your dress to a fun occasion,

I recommend adding a touch of shimmery highlighter to your face to add a sparkling touch to your face.

One of my recently favorite highlighters is this one here by e.l.f

Your Crease is Important

For your eyes, one of the best tips for your burgundy dress is to add a nude-colored base and light brown crease!

This creates a solid foundation that you can build on and play around with if you choose to!

Avoid Brown

Brown is a very common shade in makeup, but I do not recommend it if you are wearing a burgundy outfit.

Since these two colors are so similar, they are known to clash with each other and can create a muddy mess instead of an eye-catching look.

I’ll go into more detail about how to achieve an amazing neutral look (without brown) below.

Mascara is Crucial

Mascara is another important piece of your burgundy look.

I highly recommend using a volumizing shadow to really draw attention to your eyes.

Since burgundy is a darker color, drawing attention to your bright eyes is a must!

The best mascara of all the times is this one here by too faced.

There are so many different ways you can do your makeup to complement your burgundy dress.

Eyeshadow Tips For Burgundy Dress

There are a few different ways you can do your eye makeup to complement your burgundy dress, depending on what type of look you are going for.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Golden Shadow

A light gold shadow is an amazing way to create a softer makeup look.

It is easy to blend and looks a little more natural, so it is especially perfect if you are also wearing a bold lip.

Smokey Eye

If you want something a little bolder, a smokey eye is a must.

I suggest using a glimmering black or grey eyeshadow and avoid any browns (as mentioned earlier).

Make sure to blend your smokey eye well!

Lipstick To Wear With A Burgundy Dress

When it comes to lipstick, there are a few different directions you can go.

One of the most popular ways to match a burgundy dress is to do a burgundy lip as well.

If you decide to go this route, make sure that your lip color matches the color of your dress.

If you pick a shade too late or too dark, it could clash with your dress.

A beautiful burgundy lipstick to try is this one here by L’roeal.

You can also rock nude lips if you want one of the bolder eye looks that I mentioned earlier.

If you go in this direction, I suggest a matte nude lipstick instead of a glossy one.

And this nude lipstick from MAC is just the best!

Best Makeup Looks for Burgundy Dress

Finally, I want to highlight a few of my favorite makeup looks for a burgundy dress, and the easiest way to achieve them.

Whether you are going for a classy look, or you want something a little more bold and playful, I have a look for you!

The Classic Enchanting Look

If you want a classic makeup look to go with your burgundy dress, look no further.

For this look, you’ll want a neutral eye and a bold burgundy lip.

Apply a small amount of light-colored eyeshadow on your eye, and a hint of eyeliner.

Then apply your burgundy lip, and add a bit of lip liner for an extra sharp look.

The Dramatic Look

If you want a really bold and dramatic look, this is the one for you.

Typically I don’t recommend doing a bold lip and a bold eye, but when you have a burgundy dress, you can get a little bolder.

For this look, blend burgundy and gray eyeshadow on your lid to create a gorgeous smokey eye.

Then create a winged liner look, and a burgundy lip to finish it off!

The Natural Look

If you would prefer a natural look, I recommend starting with your foundation and applying minimal eye makeup.

A dash of mascara and a touch of highlighter in the inner corner of your eye is the way to go.

If you want to add a little more, you can do a soft pink lipstick as well!

The Eye-Catching Look: Classic Smokey Eye

I love a good smokey eye, and it is perfect to pair with a burgundy outfit.

You can choose either a black or burgundy smokey eye.

Don’t forget to add mascara and some liner to complete your eyes.

I also recommend going with a matte nude lip to finish off this look and keep the attention on your eyes.

If you want a softer look, playing with pinks is a fun way to do so.

Add a soft pink shadow, some mascara, and a nude lip to create a softer and more romantic look to pair with your bold dress.

If you want to add a little sparkle to your burgundy look, the eye is the best place to do so.
